So, okay. I was planning on writing a Dean/Cas fic (and I still am, damnit!) but so far I'm 20 pages in and Cas hasn't even shown up yet. It's a Dean and Ben (and Sam) family drama and even when Cas does show up I think the Dean/Cas is going to be secondary to the Dean and Ben.

I am not okay with this. I wanted to write some porn and I ended up writing gen. Seriously. Gen. What the fuck?

So flist, two things.

1 - What genre would you classifly a fic that was mostly gen with a side helping of Dean/Cas and a possible Sam/Sarah background? And where would you post such a thing, since it isn't stricly gen or slash or het?

2 - Please feel free to throw some straight-up porny prompts at me. Seriously, it feels like it's been forever since I've written any actual porn.

Oh and 3, if you're feeling generous, please, for the love of God, somebody tell me there are people out there who would actually read a fic about Ben, and Dean's less than stellar fathering skills. I really have no idea what I was thinking when I started this thing, but I'm too far in to stop now. And the scary thing is, I'm enjoying it.

Yeah, but does anybody actually check supernaturalfic? I know I personally just ignore most of the posts because they tend to dump huge amounts of fic at once and I've seen most of them in other places.

And there's no Lisa. The fic I'm working on is an AU where Lisa is killed so Ben comes to live with Dean. Cas comes into the picture later and Dean has a thing for him. I'm not that far yet, but I'm thinking it's sill going to be background to the Dean and Ben relationship.

I'd love to read a fic about Dean and Ben bonding and Dean's attempts at being a father. I think he'd have some rough patches but all in all he;d do a great job cuz after all just look at Sam right? At least Sam before all the demon blood.

I love your stories and I think you'd have an excellent hand in gen fics with or without slash or het.

As for classifying i'm sorry I can't help you there. I have no idea, I guess you could classify it however you felt it is leaning towards.

Well, I'm not sure how much bonding they do, at least not at first. There's some hard times they both go through but I'm hoping they'll come out okay for them :)

You're right though, about Dean doing a good job raising Sam. The thing is, I look at the show and how he is with Ben and and it's not very promising. I feel like I need to use that Dean and let him grow, instead of starting with a Dean who is a great father figure.

The thing is, I don't mind Ben, but Sam is the not!son of Dean. So it's hard to see Ben take in that role. I'll read about future!Ben when he becomes a hunter. That sounds cool.

I would read anything about Dean raising Ben. Anything. And I'm reassured that it will be good, and not like a bad episode of 7th Heaven, what with you being made of awesome and all. ;)

So, my thoughts in the gen/slash/het thing has always been, if there is a couple in the story but the fic itself isn't about the actual relationship, then I call it a gen fic. So I guess the question is how much of it is going to be about the relationship. If there is enough Dean/Cas or even some good Cas and Ben interactions, you could probably get away with posting it to

deancastiel. Otoh, if there is very little relationship stuff,

spn_gen allows couples in the fic, as long as it isn't the focus of the fic.

Also, try

spn_au because it is an AU fic, what with Lisa being dead and Ben being raised by Dean. Or

spn_fanfic and

spn_fanfics, which will take gen, het or slash. Hope some of that was helpful.

Prompt - just dry-humping against a door with their pants on, because one jumps the other as soon as he comes in the damn room.

Thank you! That was very helpful. I guess I'll have to wait until I finish writing this thing (if I ever get around to it!) to see where it should go. I'm hoping the Dean/Cas will be significant. It's not established and in the background, it's going to be developing just like Dean's relationship with Ben and I'm hoping I'll end up giving it a fair amount of screen time. I have ideas :)

I'm very excited about your story - there really isn't enough good Dean & Ben stuff out there and oddly, the last week or so, I've been thinking a lot about what Ben's life would be like if Dean was still a part of Ben's life but had started up a relationship with Cas. It's like you're reading my mind!

Ha, I didn't even think of putting in a pairing cuz I wil read any pairing (I blame starting out in the Lord of the Rings fandom where pairings were varied and plentiful!). But, if you can't decide on a pairing, I will say that my OTP of SPN is Dean/Cas.

maybe you can make a dastiel where dean keep ben after lisa died on a demon ambush or so, sam is dead or in the cage so dean try with cass to be the fathers of ben
but srsly i wont read any ben fic, cus its like a side-side-side character like becky, and tough ben is probably dean´s son becky was more important to the plot ¬¬

I don't think I could write a fic without Sam in it. And I love Ben. I love the idea of him, anyway, and I think Dean could have been amazing with him and I was so let down by the way he treated both him and Lisa in the show.

Okay, I don't know if you do this anymore (since your fic that literally left me in TEARS: All They Had). But do you do weecests? Like 15-year-old/16-year-old Sam? Where, you know, they actually do like each other (and don't kill me in the process) (I know, it wasn't your fault, there was a nice warning that said no happy ending, but I hoped it was a lie! =() (Don't worry, I still thought it was amazingly written). I mean, I kinda think maybe you said you don't anymore, but maybe I'm making it up...I like watching relationships start, and jealousy, and stuff, so it'd be cool if it wasn't just a oneshot? It's completely whatever you want! I'd still read the Dean and his shitty parenting skills fic =)

I don't think I've made any rules for myself about not writing teencest, but I just haven't felt like writing any lately. I'll think on it though and see if anything floats my boat :)

locknkey, if you haven't already. She writes a whole lot of teencest, a lot of it is on the longer side, it's all full of wonderful schmoop and it all ends happy (I think).
