Haha, I'm watching 'Hot Bench' (shut up, I only get like, 8 channels) and one SPN fan is suing another because she didn't pay her back for the hotel and car rental etc. for a convention in Vancouver they attended together.

This is not helping our image :(

That combined with all the Destiel madness today that is the icing on the fandom hell cake.

What has been the Destiel madness? What have I missed? Are people still angry it's not canon?

Yeah... some stupid fan asked Jensen in the Jaxcon J2 panel why Dean could have a mancrush on Dr Sexy but the show wouldn't make Destiel canon. So he obviously said show wouldn't make it canon because it didn't exist. Some extra precious Destiel fans are now variously heartbroken and livid. Oh and one even blamed Jared - solely because the girl asked the question so badly the first time he didn't hear it so asked her to repeat it.

Why are people so desperate to make Destiel canon? Why can't they just enjoy the fantasy? I don't understand why there is such a desire to make pairings canon. I mean, quite frankly, I wouldn't want to see Wincest as canon. And really, if Destiel became canon, people would be pissed off because it wouldn't be perfect (because SPN) and they'd be angry that it was fucked up, or not what they thought it would be.

And it's really hard to not jump to the conclusion that so many of the rabid Destiel fans have a serious problem with Sam/Jared, when they outright blamed him for that.

Some of the more vocal ones really do seem utterly deranged. And yes, they HATE Jared/Sam for somehow getting between Dean and their precious pairing with Castiel. It makes NO sense whatsoever. I am totally with you on failing to understand why they think it should be in the show for real. You are absolutely right, if by some twist of fate the showrunner decided Dean and Cas should get it on, you can bet your life there would be an outcry from all the other shippers of other ships, plus 90% of the Destiel fans would be upset because Dean didn't treat Cas right or Cas didn't treat Dean right, or Dean topped instead of Cas or vice versa, or they failed to move the happy couple into a coffee shop verse.

There would be some serious base breaking if it became canon. Especially if it was 'ruined' somehow. But it makes me giggle thinking there should be a 'very special episode' where Dean and Cas open a coffee shop. SPN has never been above taking the piss out of their own fanbase.

*pokes the bear* Sam and Cas make a better pair anyway. Maybe I'll start a 'make Sassy canon' campaign. Because I'm a bitch.

You know what would be a hilarious episode? Having the characters thrown into a series of AU fanfic tropes - so we could have a coffee/bakery shop, college, gender swap, body swap, Regency, pirates... Think of the fun they could have with that...

Yeeeees, this has to be a thing! And I could see them a) doing that and b) pulling it off.

For some reason coffee shop AU makes me think of Gilmore Girls. I've never actually watched the show, and I don't know if anything related to coffee shops is involved, but it's a thing that could totally be a thing...

And I want SPN as is. The shipping should stay in art/fic/creations from the fans. I'd prefer to get Cas off the show actually, he doesn't *do* anything for me...
