Sam's scared.

Not even for himself, is the thing. He could very well die, he knows that but hell, he's died a hundred times over by now. When it finally happens for good it's going to be kind of a relief.

He's scared for Dean. Dean, who made love to him last night like they'd never see each other again, Dean who kissed him this morning with tears in his mouth.

Dean, who doesn't do well without Sam around, not these days.

“I'll be okay, Sammy. You take care of yourself,” Dean had whispered into the back of Sam's neck as they rocked together. “Don't worry about me.”

But that's a whole lot easier said than done.

Sam's coming home, he promised Dean he was. But as the plane takes off and Sam crouches in his seat, hands gripping his pack, he wonders it is he'll be coming back to.
