This year for Christmas, he brought me five days without hydro. I guess I was on the naughty list. Or, you know. The entire city was. There wasn't really all that much damage overall (except to the power lines) but apparently we lost 20% of our tree canopy. That's a shitload.
The line-ups at the Timmy's and the Mickey D's were out the door, from all the hundreds of people wanting to warm up a little. The wait to get food delivered from pretty much anywhere was hours, because nobody could cook anything (except peanut butter sandwiches). And it was weird, because the power went out in patches, so our block had no power, but across the street did. Then two more did and the next didn't.
We lasted three very long, very cold days before we went to my folks' house folks house for Christmas. They must have been on the nice list, because they're only ones in the friggin' province that didn't lose power, as least for a little while.
It was nice to have a warm bed and hot water and some hot food and luckily our power came back on last night, so we weren't cold for long after coming back home.
It was certainly a bitch, but we got off lucky. There are still a buttload of people in the dark, nobody here needs any sort of electricity for medical reasons, we didn't get hurt and we sustained only minor property damage. And hey, it was kinda fun all sleeping together in the same bed under seven blankets, huddled together for warmth!
The good thing about losing power in the winter, is that you can put your food outside to keep it cold. The bad thing about losing power in the winter, is that you can keep your food inside to keep it cold :)
It was certainly an interesting Christmas!
Hope you all had a great one.
And... now I'm off to catch up on the entire internet.

And OMG!!! I got a motion sensor Star Trek door chime, and it makes the door wooshy sound when you walk into a room, or you can push a button and make the 'doorbell' sound. It's friggin' awesome! Goes great with my Enterprise pizza cutter and my Enterprise bottle opener. And My Tardis and Dalek S n P shakers and my heat-sensitive disappearing Tardis tea mug and my Star Wars calender and my hubby's Sheldon Spock Snuggy....
Ah, yeah. Despite the loss of hydro, Santa was good to me :)

We should do a movie night sometime soon. Maybe some old school Angel? I'm pretty much around all week except Saturday.

I'm actually in Vegas until Sunday, but the next few weekends are looking pretty good, so we'll find something that works.

One of the many reasons I'm glad we have a fireplace. Er... not to be smug in the face of your trauma.
Glad you got good snuggles in and were able to have a merry christmas anyway! *MWAH*
