...and all I got was this lousy shot glass.
Seriously, it's black and skinny and it says SUPERNATURAL and it's got little gradients with measurements like 'Bloody Mary' and 'Croatoan Zombie' and 'Yellow Eyed Demon'. So instead of saying 'I need a 2 ounce shot' you could say 'Give me a Lucifer.'
Oh, and I learned a few things.
1 - I am in love with Misha Collins.
I know, I know - that's not really news. But I really could just sit and listen to that man talk all damn day. Ideally somewhere in the middle I'd get to molset him a bit, but then he could get right back to the talking :)
It was half awesome and half off-putting that he started his Q&A panel out by talking about Karla. Nobody asked hiim about it or anything, he just kind of came out on the stage and was all 'So yeah, I made this movie...' I guess he wanted to get it out there in the place where it all went down, because the Toronto area really does have a grudge against that movie, so I think it was pretty cool of him.
He told us it's a terrible movie and it shouldn't have been made and when it first came out he got raked over the coals during interviews and stuff - which I'd heard before from other cons he's been at. But what I didn't know was that when he first got the script for the movie, he didn't know it was a true story. Also, he told us about getting a phone call from the girl that got away and how it lasted two hours and how they were both in tears by the end.
Then he was all 'Now that I've brought the energy way down... Any questions?'. And then he was adorable. *hearts him*
And he was wearing Justin Beiber t-shirt. *hearts him so hard*
And he told us that they've filmed the next ten episodes of the show and he's not in any of them and he doesn't know about anything else. So this is where I made my sad face and wished I'd brought some whisky with me. Seriously, what's that even about? I need more Cas!!
Then people asked him questions and he answered them and they couldn't have been all that important because I don't recall anything else particularly amusing.
When he was done I made my way to the front of the theatre (since I was four rows from the back, but more on that later) to meet my friend in the front row and I kind of loitered with her while Misha signed the banners and such and I'm pretty sure I admitted a little too loudly 'Holy fuck, I'm so in love with him'.
That was a good hour :)
2 - Richard Speight Jr has a great ass
Dude, I thought Jared had a great ass (and he does, don't get me wrong) but I had no idea RSJ had such a hot little behind!
He was doing a Q&A with Traci Dinwiddie on Saturday morning and she was up on the stage answering questions but he was making his way around the theatre, up and down the aisles and stopping at the back and such. He stopped right beside me for a bit and then stepped forward, so his ass was like right there in front of my face and dude. I'm telling you, I had a hard time not reaching out to grab it, it was so fucking fantastic. And this is a guy who's never really done anything for me before, but wow. Just wow.
My general impression of him was that he was fun. I don't really remember every detail, but he did a good job at keeping the conversation going (at his Q&As and at Karaoke) and he always seemed like he was having a really great time.
Plus he's SHORT. Like... I was getting ice, and the ice is right next to the elevators, and him and that guy who plays Andy were waiting for the elevator and on my way into the ice room I didn't even recognise them, but when I came out I did, and I feel kind of dumb because I think I did a double take when I realised that they were MY HEIGHT. I didn't say anything though and walked away like a moron.
In fact, he told a story about how short he is. He was talking about filming a scene (I'm pretty sure it was the scene in Mystery Spot, where Sam and Dean have him pinned to the fence... And the directer sets up the shot and he's got it focused on Jensen and Jared's faces and then he calls action and he's all "Richard, get in the shot" and Richard's all "I AM in the shot" and then everyone looks down and he's there, but he's so short his face isn't on camera. So they had to stand him on boxes. CUTE.
3 - Jensen and Jared are still hot
Again, not something I've just learned, but I'm impressed with their ability to look so good after long flights and little sleep and no make-up and hair people to make them all pretty.
Jensen, as I expected, gave me that jerk vibe - but in the way where he's still totally lovable and I want to hug him. And have hot, hot sex with him. Shh. Jared was all kinds of nice (not that Jensen wasn't, but Jared seemed to try a little harder).
Heh, someone asked Jensen some sort of question about the difference between him and Dean and Jensen said something about Dean being a jerk... The audience disagreed and Jensen was all 'I hope you mean you don't think Dean's a jerk, because if you think I am, we're gonna have words'.
So, it looks like Jensen and I need to have words. Which will hopefully wind up with at least some violence, because I could probably get by on that for a while :)
Someone asked Jensen what he did with Cas' coat, after he folded it up all fallen soldier style, and Jensen joked that he sleeped with it as a pillow. Which would have made my Dean/Cas heart happy enough, but Jared had to push it over the top by grabbing that damn toque of his and holding it up to his face, sniffing it and rubbing his face all over it, moaning and rubbing and sniffing... It was pretty disturbing, actually, but the idea of Dean doing that to Cas' coat makes me smile so hard!
Oh, and something else. I was here thinking that Jensen was loads shorter than Jared, based on what we see on-screen. I get the impress a lot that Jensen is a little shorty pants, but when I saw them standing next to each other they're actually pretty similar in height. And Jared is looking smaller these days, less bulgy and icky, so that's all kinds of win for me.
There was much more of them being super cute and some pretty standard questions and an awkward hug Jared saying that Dean was 'so totally hot' when he's being a dick and fun all around!
And again, when they were done I went to the front to meet my friend and then I realised they weren't done. Jensen was auctioning off this container of rocksalt that they used on set (it went for five grand - seriously what the fuck!) so I just hung out on the side and managed to actually take a picture or two. Not that they turned out so hot.Which is okay, because LJ is being a bitch (again!) and not letting me add images. Fucking bitch! Yay pictures!!

Oh and one more thing. What the fuck is up with Jared and that damn toque? Seriously, he seems to wear it all the time and I know it was October, when it's usually chilly but I'm not sure if he went outside at all, because it was 26 damn degrees! Not exactly toque weather. It bugs the crap out of me whenever I see it, sorry.
4 - I won't be going back
Don't get me wrong, It was a pretty great weekend. Though most of that was due to me running into an old friend from university within an hour of being there, so there was sort of built-in entertainment.
I have problems with this con. I've mentioned them before, when I first found out about it and I'm going to mention them again.
It's fucking crazy expensive. If you want it to be, which to be fair, is just as much on the fans as the people running it.
I paid $109 for my ticket. Got me genernal admission to the Q&As (which I found out after I got there was admission to the last four rows in a theatre of probably 150). Most of the con was these Q&As, and even more than that was autographs and photo ops. I didn't get either of those, because it would cost monely, I'd feel hella weird in that situation and most importantly WHAT THE FUCK WOULD I DO WITH AN AUTOGRAPH OR POHTO?
I'm thirty, not twelve.
The friend I met there, though - totally different opinion. She collects autograpsh. And she's in love with Jensen (not that I'm not, but...) so she upped her game. She paid $550 for her gold seats, then there was an auction for first row and she got those (extra $200), then she got Jensen's photo op for another $130... By this point in the narrative I'm kind of glazing over, because dude. I love Jensen, but not that much.
So, I pretty much lived vicariously through her all weekend.
Friday night there was Karaoke, which everyone (even the poor folk) were invited to, so we went and my daughter curled up next to the stage and half-cheered/half-napped. It was fun :)
Saturday night there was the cocktail party, where the actors came around and sat at the tables and talked to the guests for a few mintues each...
I mentioned that it would seem pretty awkward for me and my friend was all 'yeah, it was. But Misha was so cute so it was worth it!'
And something that I honestly got a kick out of, and something that surprised me, was a conversation I had with a girl next to me in the back row of the J&J panel.
Her: Funny, this is way less intense than I thought it would be.
Me: Wow, really? Because it's way more intense than I thought it would be.
Her: Well, maybe that's because I've heard a lot about Star Trek conventions and how crazy the fans are.
Me: HAHAHAHA! That's pretty much the funniest thing I've heard, ever, because the only cons before this that I've been to, ever, are Star Trek cons, and they're way less intense.
(Seriously, I've seen William Shatner walk down the hall with less hoots and hollars than the Js. It's not like they're the fucking Beatles, kids. Relax.)
In a nutshell? Gold tickets pay way too much money.
Yeah, yeah, autographs and photos.... I know that means a lot to some poeple and I don't want to harsh your buzz or anything, but it's just not something I want.
When i go to a con, I pretty much want to hang out with fans, want to go to fan panels where we can talk about the show and the characters and have a good time without worrying about our turn in line to grope Jensen.
Plus, the cheapo tickets only get you seats in the back four rows, so all the Q&As I saw, I'll probably get a better view when someone posts the videos on Youtube.
All in all, I won't be going back next year.
5 - The Oktoberfest parade in Kitchener on Monday morning was the highlight of my weekend.
